Pregnancy, Breastfeeding and 0-5 Years ResourcesFirst Food for Chinese BabiesFirst Food for Chinese Babies is available in English and Chinese. Research by dietitian Ada Cheung identified the need for the resource, and it was then further developed by dietitian Susan Choie with input from Chinese Plunket nurses and families. The resource is available free of charge within the Auckland region from the Regional Public Health Service Resource Rooms. For those outside Auckland, the cost is $10 for 20 copies including postage and handling.
Planning Nutritious Long Day Care MenusThis resource was developed by the South Australian Child Care Nutrition Partnership whose aim is to promote good nutrition for 0-5 year old children in South Australian childcare settings. It includes a nutrition checklist and support materials to assist childcare centres to provide nutritious food for children in their care.
Heart Foundation Resources for Early ChildhoodThe Heart Foundation has a range of resources for early childhood centres including the Healthy Heart Award Programme for Early Childhood Centres, Yummy Food suggestions for under fives in a number of languages, including Māori, Cook Island Māori, Samoan, Tongan, Niuean, and Tokelauan, and the Te Oma Nui, (Māori Language) for Te Kohanga Reo.
Food and Nutrition Guide for Under FivesThis book was written in response to many nutrition requests from early childhood centres. It covers, the Food and Nutrition Guide for Under Fives, nutrition for preschoolers (0-5 years) infant feeding problems and nutritional issues, menu planning for children in childcare, kitchen safety and food fun for preschoolers. The book costs $15.00 (plus postage and packaging).
Nutrition in PregnancyNutrition in Pregnancy was specifically written for New Zealand Lead Maternity Carers. It covers nutrition issues from fertility to twins, prevention of allergies to artificial sweeteners, and heavy metals to calcium requirements. Written by a public health dietitian with input from midwives, lactation consultants and dietitians, this resource has accompanying fact sheets for women and their families. A CDRom of the resource is also available.
