ANA Conference 2005
Call to Action, Kawea Ake Te Wero
National Nutrition and Physical Activity Public Health Conference
23-25 May 2005, Christchurch, New Zealand
Agencies for Nutrition Action, with funding from the Ministry of Health and SPARC, hosted Call to Action – Kawea ake te wero, the inaugural public health nutrition and physical activity national conference in Christchurch. It was attended by 220 people.
The Ministry of Health, Healthy Eating Healthy Action (HEHA) web page, now features detailed articles about four programmes presented at the conference:
- Te Maara mo nga Whanau – a gardening programme with the Māori community in Taranaki
- SHOP – a supermarket shopping research trial encouraging consumers to select healthier choices
- DRUMBO – an initiative in Tokoroa and the Waikato using traditional drums and dance to get the Cook Island community more active
- Getting Active South Auckland Style – exercise classes delivered to communities in South Auckland by the Diabetes Projects Trust.
