Dr Colin Tukuitonga

Dr Colin Tukuitonga is a registered medical practitioner, a Fellow of the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners and the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine. Until recently he was the World Health Organization (WHO) Coordinator of Surveillance and Prevention of Chronic Diseases and responsible for the development and implementation of the WHO Global Strategy on Diet Physical Activity and Health.

He was a keynote speaker representing WHO at several international events for the prevention of chronic diseases. Prior to that appointment, he was the Director of Public Health for the Ministry of Health and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Māori and Pacific Health at the University of Auckland. In 2000/2001, he was a Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy in the United States of America.
